High Sand Cost

Shapeshifting

The ability to change form to any other plant, animal, material, or shape

Strengths

  • Effects can last up to 12 hours

  • They can shapeshift into literally anything, even if it doesn't actually exist

  • Shift can be cancelled at any time

Hypnosis

The ability to affect someone's consciousness to ones will

Strengths

  • Always successful

  • No limits to what one can do

  • Can last as long as desired

Teleportation

The ability to instantly transport oneself across a distance

Strengths

  • Can teleport anywhere or any distance

  • Absolutely no delay in effects

  • A quick way out of trouble

  • Easy commute

  • Can teleport anyone or anything that's touching the caster

Weaknesses

  • Effects are limited to 12 hours

  • Limited to one shift per day; this limit resets at midnight (any timezone)

  • Shifts are not often "full." ie. a shifted dreamwalker may still have eight eyes

  • High sand cost that varies depending on size/complexity of shift as well)

Weaknesses

  • May induce headache or migraine

  • Difficult to perform under stress, pressure, distraction, etc.

  • Unclear direction creates undesired results

  • High sand cost that varies on length of sessions

Weaknesses

  • May result in symptoms of motion sickness or lethargy

  • Teleporting multiple times in one instance can have negative effects on the user's body -- it can get graphic

  • High sand cost that varies on distance traveled and mass teleported

Medium Sand Cost

Invisibility

The ability to completely blend into ones surroundings / "disappear"

Strengths

  • Sneaky

  • Can simulate teleportation

  • Fun gimmick

  • Makes escaping easy

  • Hunting advantage

Illusion

The ability to create false imagery

Strengths

  • Improves storytelling

  • Makes you fun at parties

  • Can create amazing traps or distractions (especially useful in hunting, pranks, or battle)

  • Limitless

Telepathy

The ability to communicate through the mind

Strengths

  • Works on all creatures

  • Completely anonymous unless otherwise desired

  • You can find out if someone is lying to you

Weaknesses

  • Only affects the body, so clothes, accessories, and other materials will still be visible (including dirt, dust, paint, water, etc.)

  • The body is still solid

  • Medium sand cost that varies depending on time spent invisible

Weaknesses

  • Objects are not solid nor permanent

  • Requires practice to look "good" (it is an art form)

  • Easily interrupted by anyone

  • Illusory figures break at the slightest touch of anything solid or liquid

  • Medium sand cost that varies on time, complexity, and number of designs

Weaknesses

  • May induce headache / migraine in both / all parties involved

  • Invasion of privacy for the other party(ies)

  • "Telepathy Face Syndrome" which might give you away. And then others will hate you for invading their privacy (doesn't affect everyone)

Low Sand Cost

Beastmastery

The ability to communicate with animals

Strengths

  • Can talk to and potentially control any animal

  • You will likely always have allies

  • Tends to be very in touch with nature

  • Makes hunting a breeze

  • Low sand cost

Elementals

The ability to control elemental powers (earth, air, fire, water, light, dark)

Strengths

  • Incredibly diverse power at a low sand cost

  • Potential to control up to three elements

  • Convenience of the world around you

Green Thumb

The ability to nurture / heal

Strengths

  • Can close and heal wounds

  • Healing speed is greatly increased

  • Can recover from illness faster and easier than others

  • Plants and creatures that are blessed by a green thumb are more likely to be healthy

  • Low sand cost

Weaknesses

  • Must learn each species' languages individually

  • Potential to make enemies with any animal unwilling to do your bidding

  • Might be hard to get any privacy

Weaknesses

  • Most do not master more than one element

  • Self-destructive in high amounts

  • Takes a long time to master a single element, and can be a messy / dangerous process

  • Potential to negatively impact the surrounding environment

Weaknesses

  • May result in lethargy

  • Not always effective

  • Has little impact on devastating wounds or dying creatures

  • Requires utmost relaxation and concentration 

  • Despite the initial low sand cost, it can add up incredibly quick, depending on amount of healing focused
